Here at Washington Wine Report, every day is Washington Wine Day. But all across the state, March is Washington Wine Month!

Washington Wine Month features numerous promotions by restaurants, retailers, hotels, and wineries throughout the region in a build up to Taste Washington!, the state’s largest wine event which takes place in Seattle on March 31st and April 1st.

This year the Washington Wine Commission has created a dedicated website – washingtonwinemonth.com – as a portal for all promotions. The calendar listing on the site includes restaurant discounts (such as 50% off Washington wine bottles at Rover’s), special events (such as El Gaucho’s Legendary Swirl on March 8th), winemaker dinners (such as a series of events at RN74), and winery discounts (such waived tasting fees and bottle discounts at numerous locations).

Many retailers also participate in Washington Wine Month with discounted wines and Washington wine tastings. This makes March a particularly good time to buy Washington wine!

On a related note, it will be interesting to see what happens this year with the other Washington wine month which occurs in August. In the past, this month, which exists by the Governor’s proclamation, has been primarily notable for its discounted prices at the state liquor stores. However, with the passage of Initiative 1183 last November, these stores will be long gone come August. Look for the big box stores, old and new, to help fill the void.
