Next week, I will be publishing a series of articles about smoke impact in wine. There will be one article each day, Monday through Friday, looking at different aspects of the subject.
If you’re not interested in smoke impact in wine, please bear with me for a week. I considered spacing these articles out, but I decided it was best to put them all together in one short burst. We’ll be back to our regular program October 19th.
If you are interested in smoke impact in wine, I suggest starting with this article I wrote in 2021 when I was a contributing editor at Wine Enthusiast. It offers important background that I will not be covering in the articles next week.
Over the years, I’ve been reluctant to write much about smoke impact. It is an extremely nuanced subject that does not lend itself well to current times.
However, it is an increasingly important topic. I therefore think it’s is imperative that wine lovers, growers, and makers know more about it. I also, as always, have a lot of opinions about the subject. I’ll be sharing some of them in my articles.
So, smoke ‘em if you’ve got ‘em. Smoke Week is next week.
