Halfway through summer and with harvest about a month out, it’s time to take a look at recent temperature and precipitation trends. We also look at changes in drought conditions since our last report and potential longer-term weather patterns.
Recent temperature trends
Since our update this past April, the temperature trends can be split into two segments, spring and summer.
For much of the period of March 1st through May 31st, there was a cool spring pattern, as outlined in the map below for the Tri-Cities Area, WA. (NOAA is the source).
The blue bars are observations. Brown colors represent the average temperature range. Temperatures were generally at or below normal.
