The majority of the wines reviewed below come from Willamette Valley’s 2023 vintage. As I have written previously, 2023 was a strong vintage for the valley.

After a series of challenges that ranged from wildfire (2020), a heat dome (2021), and a spring frost (2022), 2023 was a warm, straightforward growing season. The result is high quality, accessible wines that are reflective of the place from which they come.

The reviews below include a series of standout wines from Beaux Frères. The 2023 Beaux Frère wines are exultant, one of the strongest set of releases tip to tail I’ve tasted in some time. Beaux Frères has had a number of transitions of late. Look for an upcoming article delving into these changes.

There are also reviews for Cortell Collection. Jessica Cortell managed Antica Terra’s estate vineyard from 2010 until 2024 and Evening Land from 2015 through 2024 along with scores of other vineyards. Cortell has now shifted to launching her own brand, Cortell Collection. All of the Cortell Collection wines are made from grapes her team farms using organic and regenerative practices.

Overall, the wines below, red and white, are reflective of the high quality across the 2023 vintage in Willamette Valley. If the goal is to win hearts and minds of tasters one glass at a time, the 2023 vintage in the valley more than succeeds.
