14 Hands Winery and Tasting Room, Prosser

Both wineries will continue production

Ste. Michelle Wine Estates (SMWE), the Northwest’s largest winery, has closed the tasting rooms and wine clubs for 14 Hands and Columbia Crest. Both will continue to produce wine.

“We have made the decision to close our 14 Hands and Columbia Crest tasting rooms in Eastern Washington as we continue our focus on winemaking and growing our most iconic Washington wine brands nationally,” the company said in a statement to Northwest Wine Report. “It’s been a privilege to host local tasting room visitors over the years, and we hope fans will continue to enjoy their favorite wines through their local grocery stores, wine shops, and restaurants.”

The move comes as the global wine industry deals with significant headwinds. SMWE, one of the largest wine companies in the U.S., continues to adjust its business accordingly.
