Two thousand and nine marks the twentieth year since Andrew Will Winery was founded by Chris Camarda. The winery, located on Vashon Island, is named after Camarda’s son Will and nephew Andrew. Camarda currently focuses on single vineyard wines from some of the states finest vineyards, including Champoux (Horse Heaven Hills AVA), Sheridan (Yakima Valley AVA), Two Blondes (Camarda’s own vineyard located near Sheridan), Klipsun (Red Mountain AVA), and Ciel du Cheval (Red Mountain AVA).

The fruit for the 2006 Sorella, Andrew Will’s flagship wine, is from the Champoux Vineyard. The average age of the vines from this vineyard is 30 years. The wine is aged in Taransaud new French oak barrels – among France’s finest. This is the second consecutive vintage the Sorella has received a 95 point rating from Wine Spectator. As mentioned in a previous post, few Washington wines have received this rating (15) or above (5). The only wineries to receive a 95 point or higher rating in consecutive vintages in Washington are Quilceda Creek and Leonetti for their Cabernets in 2003 and 2004 and 1989 to 1991 respectively. Andrew Will Sorella Horse Heaven Hills 2006

Dark purple color. Vanilla, light pencil shavings, and soft oak interweave with dark fruit aromas. Perfectly structured and beautifully balanced. Drinking extremely well for its age although additional bottle time or decanting will only make it better. 71% Cabernet; 17% Merlot; 8% Cab Franc; 4% Petit Verdot. 14.7% alcohol. 1326 cases produced.
