Amavi’s name comes from a combination of the Latin root words, “am” (love) and “vi” (life). Winemaker Jean-François Pellet’s 2006 Cabernet is nothing short of an exceptional wine, especially at this price point. On sale, it’s a steal. The 2006 vintage also has a significantly improved label. |

Amavi Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 |
A gorgeous wine marked by dark fruit, cinnamon, and clove. Silky in texture, this wine opens up and expands beautifully on the palate with a finish that sails on and on. Although best after decanting thirty-plus minutes, it showed remarkably well even on first pour. 76% Cabernet; 18% Merlot; 5% Syrah; 1% Cab Franc. Pepper Bridge, Seven Hills, Les Collines, and LeFore vineyards. |
$28 |

hi there. just wanted to question the price on the Abeja Cabernets? 25 and 28? I work for a wine shop, and we buy it at cost for more than that, an it is generally marked up at more than $40-$45 retail. Perhaps you were given the wholesale cost?
Interesting. Where is your wine shop located? Amavi lists the retail price on their website for the 2006 as $28. You can see the listing here:
http://www.amavicellars.com/2006-cabernet-sauvignon/
And similarly the 2005 at $25 here:
http://www.amavicellars.com/2005-cabernet-sauvignon/
Looking on winezap.com, I see store prices for the 2005 ranging from low to mid-twenties.
Perhaps you’re thinking of Pepper Bridge winery who shares a winemaker with Amavi?
You are right! I was confusing it with Abeja…sorry about that – laura
Abeja and Amavi are 2 totally different wines!!!
Amavi is a second label to Pepperbridge
Amavi is a separate winery than Pepper Bridge. Owned by similar, but different parties.
I agree on the second label claim. Same people; different label; still awesome wines! We're members of their club and are in love with the Syrah and Cab – especially the 2006 Cab.
