Ste. Michelle Wine Estates (SMWE), Washington’s largest winery, has become the national sales agent and direct-to-consumer provider for the Trothe and Sagebreaker wines. SMWE will now be responsible for selling the two brands, which were founded by the Andrews family.

“The Andrews family has had a long-standing relationship with Chateau Ste. Michelle, and this is a great opportunity to renew and strengthen our relationship,” says Jeff Andrews, founder of Trothe and Sagebreaker and managing partner at Andrews Family Vineyards. “The partnership also gives Trothe and Sagebreaker the opportunity to connect with new audiences.”

The Andrews family, which has a multi-generational agricultural history in the state dating back to the 1800s, established its first vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills in 1980. SMWE began contracting fruit from Andrews Family Vineyards in 1994.

The Trothe and Sagebreaker wines will have a targeted national rollout this fall. Trothe will also have a tasting space at Chateau Ste. Michelle, tentatively scheduled to open in December. To date, tastings at Trothe have been by appointment only, in large part due to the remoteness of the Horse Heaven Hills.
