A substantial number of people are directed to my articles by posting about them on Northwest Wine Report’s Facebook page. However, Facebook has the ability to control what people see and do not see.
That is a problem, and frankly it always has been. However, the Facebook page recommendation suspension issue made clear how critically important it is to be diversified in how people find the content that I produce here.
To give Northwest Wine Report more autonomy, I ask that you do the following if you are not already.
1. Please sign up to receive email notifications about new articles.
Email notifications are the best way to learn when new articles are published at Northwest Wine Report. These notifications include the title, a few lines of text, and then a link to the article.
Having a direct way to contact readers is critically important to my business. If you are not already, please sign up to receive email notifications about new articles. Also, please make sure that these emails do not end up in your spam folder.
I do not, by default, sign people up to receive email notifications when they subscribe to the site. I don’t want to spam people. Rather, in all cases, people must opt in.
More broadly, I typically publish articles Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. If you visit the site on those days, you’re likely to see new content.
2. Please follow Northwest Wine Report on various social media platforms and like and share content there.
Again, email is the best way to learn when new articles are published at Northwest Wine Report. However, I also routinely publish links to content on my website on the following social media platforms:
LinkedIn (my personal page)
On social media, algorithms control what people see and do not see. The best way to combat those algorithms is for readers to like and share posts. This greatly increases the chances that other people will see the content.
Please consider ‘liking’ and sharing content you enjoy from Northwest Wine Report on social media. It makes a huge difference.
Thank you for your consideration.
