60+ wines reviewed below, including the latest from Baer, Canvasback, Capital Call, DarkRock, Devison, Domaine Serene, Dominio IV, Eight Bells, Flâneur, Fortuity, Itä, L’Ecole No. 41, Mercer, Prospice, Sweet Cheeks, and Walla Walla Vintners.

The wines below include the latest from Walla Walla Valley’s Devison Vintners. These are the winery’s new and upcoming reds and whites from the 2023 and 2024 vintages.

These wines and previous vintages from Devison make one thing clear. Devison isn’t just making some of the best wines in Washington, they are making some of the best wines anywhere.

Winemaker Peter Devison has long established himself as a top white winemaker and a Sauvignon Blanc savant. Since the winery’s inception, Devison has made the best Sauvignon Blanc in the state as well as the best rosé on the Washington side of the Columbia Valley.

Here’s the thing, though. The Devison red wines are spectacular. They have the richness and intensity that Washington is blessed with, but there is also tension and verve. There is complexity, detail, and length. They reflect the places that they come from, taste like nothing else from the state, and have something important to say. They are complete wines from tip to tail, truly profound.

Impressively, Devison always manages to evince the most out of each vintage. Better still, there is continuous improvement, with the wines below the best lineup that the winery has produced to date, which is saying something. Many of these have yet to be released, but Devison’s 2022 reds and 2023 whites, which I have reviewed previously, are benchmark wines from those vintages and should be sought out.

Look for an upcoming feature article on Devison. However, let me say here now, the Devison wines are must-tries for any wine lover. I would put them up against anything from anywhere. They are that good.
