In the last three years, Washington has received six new federally approved grape growing regions. That brings the state’s total number of appellations to 20.

On Saturday, March 11th as part of Taste Washington weekend, I will be moderating a seminar called “Where the Future Begins: Introducing Washington’s newly minted regions” where we’ll delve into what makes each of these regions, and their wines, unique.

The six new appellations we’ll be exploring are:

Royal Slope (2020)

Rocky Reach (2022)

Click on the links above for in-depth articles about each area. The seminar panel will include: Dennis King of Stillwater Creek Vineyard; Victor Perez Jr. of Sagemoor Vineyards; Amanda Reed of E3 Restaurant Group, Will Wiles of Ste. Michelle Wine Estates; and Andrew Wilson of Goose Ridge Estate Vineyard and Winery.
