Lone Birch is beginning to establish itself as the state’s top value Syrah. This is an aromatically appealing, fruit-forward offering, with notes of boysenberry, blueberry syrup, briquette, smoked meat, fresh herb, and flower, showing impressive clarity. Plump, silky-feeling, medium-bodied flavors follow. There’s not necessarily a lot of complexity, but that’s missing the point. It’s straight-up delicious and a terrific value.
