Gramercy Lower East The Bowery Columbia Valley 2018

Special Designation: Critic's Choice

Price: $28

The Gramercy Lower East wines, generally speaking, make their way to restaurant glass pours, with the fruit coming from declassified barrels. Snap them up if you see them, as they consistently represent exceptional quality and value, which is what we have here. A blend of 46% Carignan (!), 29% Mourvèdre, 15% Grenache, and 10% Syrah, it’s an aromatic wine that offers notes of freshly chopped parsley, smoked meat, stem, black pepper, and green flower. The palate is silky, soft and layered, showing sophistication and elegance. The finish is near endless. It’s somewhat riper in style than the norm for this producer’s main lineup, though still very much in check. It’s also flat out delicious.
