Does anyone have more info on that Brennon Leighton/Charles Smith collaboration?
ReplyDeleteAs good as Brennon is with whites, I don't seem him abandoning reds (love me some Jolie Bouche/Ceidleigh), but it says he'll be in charge of an exclusively chard operation? And the asst. winemaker at K Vintners is assuming responsibility for KV. So are Smith/Leighton starting a new line? Or will this be under the Charles Smith line?
uwp, my understanding is that Leighton will be in charge of: 1) the Chardonnay project which will be a new winery housed in the old Whitman Cellars facility 2) the Charles Smith Wines, which includes all of reds and whites. Additionally, Leighton will start his own winery, which Smith will underwrite, where he will produce Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre - although I could see that list changing.
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome news Sean!
